Update: you can read my review of the 30th Anniversary production of Romeo + Juliet here
2020 was due to to be the golden anniversary of Stafford Festival Shakespeare, the renowned open air production set within the grounds of Stafford Castle.
Instead, the 30th Anniversary production was pushed back originally to 2021 due to the covid pandemic.
Once again, due to the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic Freedom Leisure, the operators of Stafford Gatehouse which produces the festival have pushed it back by a further year meaning the 30th Anniversary production will be performed 32 years after the first production at the castle.
The title remains unchanged and the 2022 production will be Romeo and Juliet. Bookers for the 2020 production will have their seats transferred to the 2022 production when the box office team return from furlough.
