On the 1st April Crown Warf Theatre signed an agreement with Joule’s Brewery to transform a vacant space into a fully functioning, versatile 200 seater performance space
For the last 12 months Crown Warf Theatre has been fundraising money through a sponsor a seat scheme and that work will now be stepped up so the new theatre can be opened as soon as possible.
Work will start on the theatre’s backstage areas ASAP with the theatre encouraging local tradespeople to come forward to help with the work.
Once complete, the 200 seater auditorium will be in an octagon format, but will be versatile to fit other configurations.
This venture has only been made possible thanks to Jules brewery who built the shell of a theatre intended for the community, as well as a new heritage centre for Stone. It all forms part of a redevelopment plan of a new watering tap which opens later this year. The Brewery will only be charging a £1 annual lease in perpetuity.
